Shari Harbinger, “The Go To Curl Girl”
Beautiful, luminescent color that looks “better than natural” is what hair color guru, Shari Harbinger, is all about. That, and of course, spreading the Deva philosophy. In her double-duty role as Director of Education for Deva Concepts and Color Director for Devachan Salon, Shari has both a loyal group of clients that rely on her for shiny, vibrant shades that are as modern as they are beautiful, and an enormous following in the salon industry for her eponymous training sessions.
As a native New Yorker, Shari’s love of hair led her to a job in sales and education with Clairol at the age of 23, quite an accomplishment considering she didn’t have a hairdressing license when she landed her first job in 1987. Later, she became a dynamic spokesperson for Schwarzkopf Inc., one of the worlds' leading hair color companies.
In 1995, Harbinger embraced her inner curly girl when she partnered with Denis DaSilva and Lorraine Massey at Deva Concepts and Devachan Salon, where she trains and inspires both new and seasoned hairdressers. Since her passion for color makes such a beautiful difference in her clients’ lives, she continues to spend some of her time at the salon behind the chair.
Her combined talent, passion and commitment to the industry have enabled her to successfully facilitate educational programs such as Curlaboration workshops for hairdressers, distributors and at trade shows nationwide. The Curlaboration educational program, which began in New York, is in such high demand that Shari and her team now travel the country, offering the Deva Concepts Curlaboration training program to salons nationwide.
Harbinger loves that she gets to spend her time educating hair care professionals, while simultaneously helping women look better. “The right color on the right texture and curl type does a woman wonders”, she exclaims. “It makes your clothes look better, your skin look brighter, lessens the need for a lot of makeup and ultimately lifts your spirits.” What more could any curly girl ask for? Shari’s work has appeared in national, international, professional publications and television. She is listed as “one of the most prominent colorists of our time”- Hair Color & Design.
