The DevaCurl Academy
It all began when Devachan Salon opened in 1995 in the trendy Soho neighborhood of New York. City. The salon became a sanctuary where clients could develop a pro-curl attitude and realize their curl potential.
With tens of thousands of enthusiastic clients as curly girl devotees, this talented team, lead by Lorraine Massey and Denis DaSilva developed a complete collection of products for a curly lifestyle. This CURLvolution has converted the "blow-fried" masses to Curly Girls who love their hair!
Armed with this rich experience and a unique perspective on curl types, curl challenges and curl solutions, the DevaCurl Academy was born, offering stylists the opportunity to learn from this talented team at the NYC "Curl Lab" training program.
While some stylists may be hesitant to embrace new ideas, when they enlist and participate in this training session, they learn about the Deva philosophy and techniques, and begin to see both as necessary tools in their arsenal to expand and grow. The workshop helps stylists teach their clients how to understand and embrace their curls, beginning with the Deva revolutionary 3-Step approach to perfect curls, along with their one-of-a-kind, botanically infused, silicone-free and sulfate-free formulations.

Artistic Educator Team Bio
Our exceptional team of DevaCurl Artistic Educators takes great pride in training and developing the independent stylists' ability to cut, style and care for curly hair. The educational program, which began in New York City at the famed Devachan Salon is in such high demand that many of the educators now travel the country offering the program to salons and stylists nationwide. Each Deva Artistic Educator shares both infinite wisdom and technical expertise with the goal of helping stylists tap into the explosive curl market and helping them achieve a cult-like following.
When not on the road with Devacurl, our team of Artistic Educators can be found at the Devachan Salon helping their full book of clients find a balanced relationship with their inner curl. DevaCurl Artistic Educators cherish the opportunity to give back to the industry by educating hair care professionals while simultaneously providing their curly salon clients with the service they have long deserved.
Become a Deva Inspired Stylist
- A Deva Inspired stylist has attended a one-day Cutting Curlab workshop that includes a product portfolio discussion, our Deva 3-Step cleansing demonstration and a hands-on workshop specializing in our acclaimed dry cutting technique.
- A Deva Inspired stylist carries the Deva product line in their salon and uses it on a daily basis.
- A Deva Inspired stylist has received a diploma verifying their completion of this course.
